Essex Recycling Centres to close until further notice
All Essex Recycling Centres have today, Monday 23 March, closed until further notice.
The decision has been made in response to strict government guidelines urging people to stay in their homes to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Simon Walsh said: “The decision to close our recycling centres has not been taken lightly but is essential in reiterating to residents to stay home to protect themselves and others.”
Those that were planning to visit a recycling centre are being asked to hold on to their items until the centres reopen.
No items such as DIY waste or recycling should be placed into kerbside general rubbish collection. This will take up space in the collection vehicles needed for general household rubbish……………..
MEDIA RELEASE: Garden waste suspended due to coronavirus
Due to the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19), Braintree District Council has made the decision to suspend its garden waste collections starting 25 March.
The Council has taken this decision so that its resources can focus on collecting essential grey bins, food waste and recycling, including glass from bring bank sites during the coming weeks and for the foreseeable future. People will be unable to report missed garden waste collections whilst this service is suspended.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) has led to reduced resource within the service as well as an increase in the amount of rubbish and recycling households are putting out for collection as they spend more time at home…………….
